As one gets older, it gets harder. Being in a minority group also presents its challenges, especially one maligned by false stereotypes. I am a black man. That is what I was growing up in the seventies, and I am too late in the game to change to African-American, lol. The reality to overcoming stereotypes is not to become combative. That might not seem fair, but remember, it’s only success that counts. Unfortunately people develop defense mechanisms that feed into these stereotypes. What I think helps a woman, is having a few guys look at her profile, and give critical feedback. Don’t try to argue with them. Try to incorporate their ideas into substantive changes. In the end men do not want ball busters, or women who seem to have baggage, or women who come off as material. A man who worked hard during the day, is not looking for another stressed situation in the evening, especially when he’s spending the money on the first date.
