I also think that exchanges with someone who writes well can sometimes lull you into a false sense of intimacy, if you exchange all kinds of in-depth, cleverly written emails before you meet and/or in the early stages of the relationship. So even if someone meets your criteria (which you can probably figure out from reading their profile as well as their communication to you), you should still assess independently how well they communicate in person, rather than assuming they’re great communicators based on your email exchanges.

The golden rule means I should treat others as I would like to be treated. It doesn’t mean I must treat others as Paula and/or Chuckrock would prefer to be treated. Personal preferences do not get enshrined in some moral or social code.
