Every man has an “attraction floor”, the level below which he will not go to have sex, even if the woman offers herself to him on a silver platter. This is because, with certain limited exceptions, sex for men is either “want” or “don’t want”. Fortunately for both sexes, for most men, most women are in the “want” category. Most men will want sex with a larger percentage of women than they will not want sex with. And there are a few women who would be in the “do not want” category. Examples would be hideously unattractive women, of course. So women who are in the “do not want” category are “below the floor”. Women who are in the “want” category are at or above the floor.
The important thing here is that sex is almost always binary for men. It’s “want” or “don’t want”. It’s yes or no. Or more to the point, it’s “hell yeah” or “hell no”. Yeah, a man can be less attracted to certain women than to others. But even for the women to whom he is less attracted, he will still want sex with them, quite enthusiastically. It’s “Want” or “don’t want”.

Liz, I see what you are getting at. It appears that what happens is that the woman has auto-scanned the whole package and decided “green light” or “red light”, just as the man has. The difference is that the guy would in most cases still think someone like Marissa Miller was physically sexy even if she was taking a flame-thrower to refugees, while he would not think Angela Merkel was hot even if she was leading a G7 country.
So let’s say that the pinstripe I-banker guy had relatively nice blue eyes. A woman made a near-instant global assessment of his overall mate value that included his money, status markers, etc., but when it came time to discuss the guy’s pure physical attractiveness she did not de-couple the money/status markers from her global assessment. Instead, she found something physically appealing about the guy’s face and then amplified whatever weighting it should receive. She adjusted her scoring criteria so that the guy she wanted to win would win on physical attractiveness (and probably would win on anything else, but that’s all she had access to because she was limited to a photo).
