…etc. would be so heavily marketed to men that they would provide more pure examples of how males “vote” when they are free to do so unilaterally. I know this is obvious, but sometimes this information is blocked out or edited because 2-3-4 are obfuscating things that should or could be relatively simple and straightforward.

In contrast, direct advice from other women may reflect their own preferences (2, 3, 4) for her to direct her efforts in ways that lower intrasexual competition rather than raise it—that would not be what she wants, since in this case she desires for guys to find her hotter, not less-hot. However, there are also some women who would encourage her to go down the #1 route; I’ve seen this happen as well, although it does seem to be more rare.

But assuming she goes full-turbo to make the boys happy she gets some potential downsides as well:

1. She just may not be able to pull it off no matter how hard she tries, which could be very depressing for her. It might also take huge amounts of time, energy, and money and leave her feeling unbalanced in other areas of her life.

2. Most other women will almost certainly feel threatened, and will probably engage in aggressive “mate-guarding” behaviors. She would need to be comfortable dismissing the haters, maybe even thriving on them.

3. Her pandering to male interests could be seen as anti-feminist and she could be attacked for seeking personal gain at the expense of some activist org. She would need to be perfectly comfortable with this.

4. It may work too well and she gets mobbed, street-harassed, date rape-drugged, etc. by men of suboptimal attractiveness.
